Dermal Graft for Huge Ventral Hernia

Abstract
The treatment of huge ventral hernia, especially of recurrences following attempted operative reconstruction, has always been the difficult task and can be regarded as on the boundary between general and plastic surgery.
The main purposes of dermal graft are the replacement of missing fascia from the plastic aspect, and reinforcement of weak abdomal wall in the field of general surgery.
The authors present a clinical survey of 9 cases of dermal graft for huge ventral hernia, which have been treated at the Dept. of General Surgery, N.M.C.
In our cases dermal skin were used in 8 cases, and whole skin in a case. Operative technic is discussed.
The end result was in every instance satisfactory after operation.
Nothing noteworthy complication was experienced except a wound infection on the donor area in a case.
Important factors for successful buried skin graft were briefly discussed.
